Drill pipe is made of seamless steel pipe, with a wall thickness of 9 to 11 mm in general, and consists of two parts, the pipe body and the joint of the drill pipe, with the pipe body and the joint butt-welded together by friction welding.

- Classification by use:

Drill pipe occupies a very important position in oil drilling, and can be divided into three categories: square drill pipe, drill pipe and weighted drill pipe.

- Classification by material:

Geological drill pipes for coal mining are mainly divided into seven types: body grooved drill pipes, hexagonal hollow drill pipes, college combination drill pipes, coal drill pipes, cart drill pipes, water sounding drill stems and hydraulic drill pipes.

In practical application, the specific type of drill pipe will be selected according to the depth of drilling, geological conditions, borehole size and other factors.
